Carb help

I'm hoping there is someone here that is somewhat familiar with holley carbs
This Question is about the 84 camaro in my signature.
On this car i have a 750cfm holley Double pumper. The car starts up great, hot or cold, will purr forever. when i put my foot in it under load it stalls and almost dies, if i force the issue it will die. if i gradually get in it, it will rev up just fine. this carb has been recently rebuilt. but i dont know alot about tuning it so i could be missing something there. if someone could point me in the right direction it would be very helpful
thanks
john

Re: Carb help

A 750 DP on thst engine is going to be too much carb...you'll flood it. You'd be better off with the 650 vac sec...Or for better mileage an old Rochester Q-jet.

Re: Carb help

i meant 650. It's not a flooding problem as far as i can tell

Re: Carb help

Try hitting up Holley's website, they have some detailed troubleshooting steps.

Re: Carb help

Check for he blown power valve as Wright suggested...also check that the float isn't stuck. If it bogs like you say it is a fueling problem and 99% sure it is over fueling.
Personally I don't like Holley carbs...sure thay are "simple" but they tend to need lots of constant tinkering...A well set up Q-jet will outperform a Holley and once set up it stays there.

Re: Carb help

Actually it was Geno with the power valve, but I was thinking along those lines

Sorry. saw Wright's name in the "last response" field and it stuck.
