95 beretta drivers side door will not open

The drivers side door on my beretta will not open. I can lock and unlock it but the outside and inside handle will not allow me to open the door. The lock clicks and when I pull on the handle you can hear it click. I actually had a couple of mechanics look at it and they seemed puzzled as to why it would not work. They couldn't get it to open. Has anyone encountered this problem? Has anyone fixed this problem? I have heard of people breaking the outside door handle off and getting to the lock through there but since mine is metal that doesn't seem like a plausible solution. I would appreciate any ideas that anyone would have. Thanks

Re: 95 beretta drivers side door will not open

don't know if it matters to you still or not....

but when the driver's door of my fiance's beretta wouldn't open i simply had to replace the door handle assembly. it was costly, but extremely easy to fix. once you get the door panels that cover the locking mechanism off you should be able to see if that is the problem or not.

hope this helps

Re: 95 beretta drivers side door will not open

You will need to remove the inside door handle and door cover assembly, if that is possible with the door closed. I have never tried that with the door not open though....but there are rods inside the door, most likely one going from handle to a plastic angle pc that in turn should connect to other rods that release the door. I have not done this on Berettas but have dealt with Corsicas, which are very close except the location of the handles. What I found was that there was a plastic clip that hael the top control rod into another part and it was a cheap fix. Might be the handle as mentioned in earlier post but getting the door to where you can work on it...if you can't remove the door covering then you might want to try a thin flat item such as a pc of steel banding or perhaps even a clothes hanger into the lower section of the doot and try to get hold of the release assembly. If you can and then pull it up it should open it. Sorry not more information...I know this works on Corsicas but even though we have owned a couple of Berettas I never had to work on those doors...
