2001 Passat cat converter help

Help! I need a new cat converter for my '01 VW Passat V6 4 motion, and I have no idea which kind to get. The dealership quoted me around $2200 altogether from both left and right converters. Obviously, that's going to be the higher than average. I looked on jcwhitney.com and found some between $55-$300. It said they'd fit an 01 passat also. I just don't want to pay more than I need to, but also find something that works. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Smile Re: 2001 Passat cat converter help

Try your local muffler shop. They have universal cats for around $150 -$250 installed. Since you need two, try to bargain as low as you can or have them throw in some chrome tips. Ask not! Receive Not!

www.uste.com

they quoted me 350.00 for the right cat on my 00 a6 4.2 v8. Audi quoted me 1500.00 for one from them.
