Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

Do you really have to hit shift When You Type Each Word?... damn.

You say you checked your fuses, but have you checked the fuse block itself? Obviously, it's the courtesy lamp fuse that would have a problem here, but you should check the circuit on the fuse itself... find the courtesy fuse, get a circuit tester, ground one side, and touch the other side to the metal contacts on the fuse... one at a time, obviously.

If you get a light, then there is power, and the problem is after the fuse block... if you don't get light, the problem is before the fuse block, b/c the fuse block isn't getting any power on that circuit... which could mean a broken/shorted wire.

Considering that it's a theft recovery, I'd guess someone tore that wire trying to use it for a quick hotwire.

Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

Check the same for any place the windshield wipers have wiring... and the relay for the wipers. (Also check the switch, could just be coincidental.)

Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

lol i originally typed that in all caps and the website put it like i guess.

They broke the steering colomn to steal it so everything should still be in place unless just a coinsidence. I'm not great with electronics, i know enough to get by i guess. so i'll check everything you suggested and get back to you. thx for the reply

Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

also in addition to the previous problem i should add although im sure its unrelated is my interior lights randomly come on. ie when i smack the dash or hit a bump. And the speedo sticks at 45 most of the time. of course if i hit a bump it jumps to speed but sputters for a bit then goes back to 45. I planned on just replacing the cluster but if anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated.

Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

Damn dude..

Speedo problems are VSS usually... replace it w/ a known good one, and if that fixes the problem, you're good... if not, then you need to check that wiring too...

The problem w/ theft recovery is that you can never really tell exactly what was messed with.

The interior lights coming on is probably related to the Cig lighter not working... does the clock work? they all tend to be on the same circuit... if the clock comes on, but doesn't read the right time, and always says 1:00 when you start the car, it's the wiring on the courtesy circuit.

Re: Fix My Car!!!!!

No Clock. Never Had One. I Always Assumed There Was A Short Somewhere But Not Sure If Its The Cluster Or Past The Cluster. Check This Out. Last Night I Was Tinkering Around Under The Dash And Looked Up Underneath The Steering Column And Saw Two Plugs Just Chillin. Took The Cover Off And Realized The 'professional' Who Replaced The Column Didnt Plug The Wiper Switch In. Wiper Problem Solved. Could The Radio Etc Be Related To This Fuck Up? The Dash Lights And Speedo Problem Were There B4 The Theft Fyi Everything Else Is After. I'll Check Out The Vss Thing. Ive Been Researching And Saw Some Other Similar Problems With Speedo And They Said The Vss And A Motor In The Cluster? Or Would Be Easier To Just Replace The Cluster? Its On Its Third Motor And 2nd Tranny So Mileage Doesnt Really Matter Any More Other Than To Show How Many The Car Itself Has. Opinion? I Typed This In All Caps Again Sorry It Bugs You Didnt Think About Till Half Way Through Lol
