84-With Front End Noise
Hello;
I've got a sound coming from the front end when I go over speed bumps, etc. It puts me in mind that it may need new bushings. I looked everything over and it has the nylon bushings that appear to be okay. I then thought it may be a dry shock but they appear to be okay as well. I can't check the components when I"m driving it. Anyone have similar problems? Thanks |

Poly bushings?
That's not OEM. Any missing bushings, where the other owner didn't get 'em all in? |

Re: 84-With Front End Noise
All bushings appear to be present and in good visual condition. I'm going to replace the shocks as I just had to replace the rear ones so I'll replace the font as well and hope that it takes care of the problem. Being underneath it, every thing feels tight and it handles very well with no pulling, nice even tire wear, etc. At this point it's just an anoyance but I fear that it may grow into something if I do not discover what it is. Thanks for writing.

Re: 84-With Front End Noise
Yeah.....
I think missing or damaged/worn bushings would ONLY make for a knockin' or 'thunkin' sound. Brakes would give the famous 'scrubbing', that all early c4's have. Dry shocks (from a worn seal), might make a scrapin' sound. I don't know what else you could get at a speed bump, except a front air dam scrapin'... You didn't say what kinda' tune it's playin'......... |

Re: 84-With Front End Noise
It's not a metal to metal sound, it's more like a the sound you'd ger hear when walking in an old house attic from the floor boards rubbing each other as you walk over them. I'm comvinced it's not the air damn in the font.

Re: 84-With Front End Noise
Have you tried the torsion bar end bolts, My 90 C4 was making a simular noise and just required the bolts to be tightened
