94 Cutlass- Trunk Won't Open

When I got the car, everything worked fine and the trunk opened no problem, but just all of a sudden one day I couldn't open the trunk. I've tried the button under the steering wheel, the key, and the button on the key fob, but nothing is working. When I turn the key in the lock on the trunk and try to lift it, it just acts like it's still locked and it doesn't budge.

Anyone else have a problem similar, on any car? I'd love to get this trunk working.

Thanks in advance.

No, it's not iced over. The trunk has been stuck since before it got this cold.

Sounds like the lock mech is bad....
Have your tried any penetraiting fluid in the key hole ??

Might have to replace the lock mechanism, which means you'll need to get it open one way or another.

You might be able to access the trunk through the back seat. Then you can turn the trunk latch manualy from the inside.
Other wise, it's screw driver & hammer time!

Good Luck

I think that's what I might have to do, is remove the back seat and open it manually from the inside. I did a little searching around on Google and found a couple other people with this same problem, and that was their solution. Now I just need to figure out how to remove the back seat and I'll be set....I hope.

I don't know about the four door but on My 94, 2 door cutlass the back seat was really bolted in, So I had to pull the whole lock cylinder out with a dent puller. I did start to drill out the old lock but the drill bit was drifting too much so I just used the dent puller. I only needed to replace the faulty trunk lock.

Well, I took the back seat out (a total of 4 bolts, 2 for the bottom piece, 2 for the back/top), then crawled into the trunk. Apparently the stretchy mesh net along the back of the trunk was caught in the lock. Stupid problem, but it was really getting on my nerves. Maybe I'll just tear the damn thing out, I never use it anyways.
