67 mustang or 82 Corvette?
Ok ive found both cars near me. Both are $5000 and both are in decent condition. The ford mustang is a coupe with a 289 V8 and the Corvette is a cross injected 350 V8. Which one do i get? keep in mind im going to upgrade the engine.

Personally, I'd take the Stang, the 82 Vette was a dog fom day one. Assuming they are in the same condition. There are a couple of 289's also.

Re: 67 mustang or 82 Corvette?
IMO it depends if you want a neat old collectable for the shows (Mustang) or if you actually want to drive it. (Vette)
I'm a big Ford fan, but I'll tell you the Vette will easily out perform and outhandle the Stang any day, and IMO would be much more pleasant to drive. . It is a much more luxurious, more expensive, more durable and more sophisticated car. That being said the Mustang is a bona fide cruiser collectable, while, as old Vettes go, an '82 is nothing special. Many other years of Vettes are more highly prized. IMO, if you really want driving performance, go for the Vette. Otherwise, of course, $5k is pretty cheap for either one, so beware of problems/repairs. Go for the one that is in better shape. Both will be expensive to fix/restore. |

Re: 67 mustang or 82 Corvette?
I agree with MR. The Corvette is a far superior car. If it's the "Hey! Look at me!" factor, go for the Ford.
The 350 Chevy is among the most versatile and popular engines on the planet. We're working on a 383 CID version for an '84 Corvette (Cross Fire-injected). Even if you want to stay "stock appearing", you can extract nearly 500 horsepower from the 383 and still drive it anywhere. The 289, to make that kind of power, would be no fun to drive. I believe, in 20 or so years, the value of the Corvette will far exceed that of the Mustang. It is, after all, the last of the "C-3s". Not a bad looking car, either, IMO. Jim |
