Question programming a keyless remote

Does anyone know how to program a keyless remote for a 2000 Chev Venture? I tried 'hold power lock' , 'key on and off' routine....plus the BCM fuse pull method but for some reason nothing seems to work. Replacement remote I have is suppose to work with Venture/Montana's from '98 - 2002. Any info appreciated. Thanks

This worked for me on my 2002 Chevy Venture. I got it from a post from a 1999 GMC post.

Important! Once the BCM enters program mode, all transmitters must be programmed at the same time. Any transmitters not learned at this time will be erased.

1) Remove the key from the ignition cylinder

2) Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel

3) Close all the doors

4) Close the liftgate

5) Turn the ign lock cylinder to the ACC. position

6) Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second

7) Open and close any door
Achim will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming mode

IMPORTANT!
After 7 seconds a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessar to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.

8) Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds

9) Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.

10) Remove the ignition key from the ignition cylinder

11) Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel.

will this work on Pontiac Grand AMs?

I was told by a Chevrolet dealer place that they can not program the remote I purchased from them because the BCM is out. Can it be they did not know how to do it?

Thumbs up 1998 Chevy Venture LS

I tried these instructions on my 1998 Venture LS and I would make the following revision. Step 7: Open and close passenger door. The original instructions indicate to open and close any door. I tried it first with the driver's door, but that did not work; the passenger's door did.

Thanks a lot! The instructions were very helpful!

I have followed this procedure for my 98 Chevy Venture and I never get a successful programming chime. I don't think I am getting the timming right somehow because the chimes don't seem to match up with the procedure given above. What am I missing?
