Insurance in florida?

Hi.
I heard someone say that in fl if the bike is paid off or it cost under 10,000 you dont have to have it covered. I would love to know so when i get my motorcycle license i will know. Oh and if not how much would it would be for a 16 year old?

Re: Insurance in florida?

as far as i know, in florida you don't have to have insurance as long as you wear a helmet. bike theft is so rampant down there that insurance companies can't afford to pay out on all the claims. however a lot of dealerships make you have full coverage on the bike if you're financing it for the simple fact that if you crash it and stop making payments on it they can't come repossess a destroyed bike, so they make it your problem and your insurance companies. i may be wrong but that's what i was told.

BTW a zx6r is a lot of bike for a 16 year old. be easy.

Re: Insurance in florida?

If the bike was purchased for under $10,000 it does not need insurance in Florida.

Yes, I agree! You might want to consider something smaller that is both cheaper to buy and cheaper to insure. Then wait for the bigger bikes once you can afford it and the insurance when your rates drop when you get older.
Just some advice! Ride safe!
