airplane paint stripper???
i just visited maaco. i'm sure everyone has seen there ads for a $250 paint job. well. my car is has accumulated quite a bit of rust due to a previous owner spraying primer over top of the paint, as well as some areas which were sanded down to bare metal. i have very few choices 1. leave it alone, and have my car rust itself to death. 2. have maaco do the job of stripping all the paint off, and sealing it for me, or 3. doing this myself.
i like the idea of doing it myself, so here's my question: what is the best chemical stripper to use, and what is the best sealer to put on after stripping it, to prepare for maaco to paint it? any help would be great, thanks

wrong forum there bub. unless you've got a full shop with a compressor big enough to run a spray gun, and some paint experience, pay someone

the question is...is my car worth saving my money and spending all that on the paint job. it's a 77 nova...theres not really too many fanatics out there that could make my effort in fixing it up pay off. so, doing this job myself, really is my only option

You're talking about a lot of work. The rusted panels will most likely need to be cut out, and patched with new material. Rust is like cancer, it spreads unless its cut out. After the body is stripped it needs to be sealed with an etching sealer primer, that alone is going to cost your a few hundred bucks.
Macco is like throwing your money away. They can't do the work right. Its going to cost a few grand for it to be done correctly. Good luck mate.
