Whats a good performance clutch for 72 ss?

My buddy just picked up a 72 ss 350 with the 4 speed for $1,500and he says his clutch seems to be slipping. Are there any good brands to go with? Do we need a new flywheel or resurface it? I am not familiar with this car at all and this would be the first time looking for anything for a muscle car.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Once you get it apart you can assess the flywheel. You really should have it cut since you almost have it out anyway. Any good automotive machine shop can do it for around $30. They actually blanchard grind it.

I used to swear by Borg Warned matched clutch disc & pressure plate sets. They are reasonably priced and work well for normal driving around. If you're going to beat on it, look for a Hayes unit, those hold up pretty good. Spring for a new throw out bearing and crankshaft bushing.
