1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4
i am having problems with my blazer. i have found that when i take off, it hesitates a lot and it takes about 200 yards until it actually get about 10 mph and over 1500 rpms. another thing is that when i came home from school, my gas, temperature, rpm and speed gauge werent working. i think that it might have something to do with the battery bcuz it is not recharging its self. Does anyone have any ideas? maybe a new alternator?

Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4
When was the last time you did a tuneup?
If you think your alternator is going out, then I suggest you take your Blazer to Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them diagnose the issue. If the alternator or battery is not the problem, check your belt to make sure it is taught. Because if the belt is not tight, you will not be charging to the full potential.

Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4
thanks for the tip. we just recently did a tune up (a month ago) and i did go to autozone and i need a new alternator. do you have any ideas about the hesitation? i thought that maybe it could be something with the timing or maybe a censor is bad. any suggestions?

Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4
Check your air filter and mass airflow sensor lately?
The mass airflow sensor is the square aluminum piece near the airbox where the air filter is located. If this sensor is dirty, then you can get horrible performance.

Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4
ive checked the filter and it is fine. it wouldnt be the mass airflow censor because when it hesitates, it is before the computer kicks in. once the computer kicks in, it runs perfectly. could it be anthing with the timing?

Check it anyways. It is worth 10 minutes of your time just to toss it out of the possibility bin.
