I need help to find this color
Hi guys,
I want to build a yellow RX-8, but I want to know if someone know where I can get this color. The color is Lighting Yellow. I have access to Tamiya and Duplicolor paint. If I can't get it, I will paint it Velocity Red Mica, but I don't think I can find this color in Duplicolor paint. Hope someone can help me. Thanks |

Re: I need help to find this color
Just do some mixing. Get some Tamiya Yellow and mix it with Gloss White should do it. When I have to mix colors I usually make a big batch so that way I wouldn't have to worry about running out and trying to match the color again.

Yeah but I don't have an airbrush, so mixing is impossible for me :-(

Re: I need help to find this color
Bummer. Well if you want to give it a try you could layer the paint. Since yellow and white are both translucent color you could layer them and get almost a mixing effect. What I would do is to put down a layer of white primer and then couple good layers of gloss white and finally thin misty layers of yellow until you get the shade that you want. It would be eaiser just to paint it red but if you want the yellow bad enough you could give that method a try.

Hey man,
I was at LHS today. I think you cna use testor's Chrysler Yellow, or Tamiya's Chrome Yellow. They look pretty close to me. Good luck. |

Unfortunately its tough to do color matches like that when you are limited to spray cans. Like Blubaja mentioned, you could try those colors. Testors has started a line of exact car colors, but I think for the time being, they are mostly classic colors with a few newer ones spattered in there. You might be able to at least find a close color match in that line. Otherwise, maybe you want to invest in an airbrush and get a little practice in before you tackle this project...

Re: I need help to find this color
Tamiya also have clear with pearl in it. goes on like a dream on any TS/AS-base coat. I've tried it on TS-54 blue for instance.
Niclas Hard to see the pearl effect, but it sparkles a bit. |
