How to get better gas mileage!
I have a 1995 Blazer with 179,000 miles. Up until today I was thinking about selling it because of the gas prices that keep on climing. $2.59 a gallon where I am from. So before putting up the for sale sign in the window I decided to do a few small things to see if I could increase my gas mileage. Well I took off my Chrome 20" wheels, did a full tune-up, *Plugs, wire, cap, and rotor and I also did a radiator flush. Well I was getting probably about 16 miles to the gallon. Now I am getting probably 22 to 23 miles per gallon and I did all this stuff myself for under $100 dollars.

Fuel Filter? Also, did you account for the difference in wheel diameters when you were figuring out your economy with the 20 inch wheels on?

I have never replaced my fuel filter. As far as my PCV valve never bothered it either. When I had the 20" wheels right off it dropped me down about 1-2 MPG.

Re: How to get better gas mileage!
You didn't answer my question.
Did you account for the difference in the overall diameter of the wheels when you were figuring fuel economy? What wheel and tire combo do you have for the 20s and the stock tires?

Re: How to get better gas mileage!
That 1/2 inch makes about 1.5% difference in the circumference, so if he is getting 22 on the smaller tire compared to 16 on the larger, then even accounting for size difference on the overall diameter he is getting about 21.6 mpg...

Re: How to get better gas mileage!
Let's not assume what time and wheel combo he has, let's find out for sure from him.
It could be the 1-2mpg he thinks he gained when in fact it was the same.
