Hey, I think the hatchbacks are cool, I was looking for a new cheap car and I really didn't want to have "just another civic" so I test drove the echo. It has really grown on me, i'm going in to order mine next week.
I'm going to order in an Absolute Red 3-door 5spd with the 15 inch 8 spoke alloys, lowering springs, exhaust tip, sport pedals, chrome shifter, cd/mp3 player, and spoiler. For the money I don't think I could've found something I would like better. Not to mention, the 42/54 mpg is amazing. Don't listen to what anybody else thinks, if you like it and want it, go ahead and get it, I could care less what people think of my car, as long as i'm happy in it.

Me Too!!!
Me and the Wife just test drove the 2004 Echo Hatch 5door RS... Two weeks three days and then we order it. Amazing little car. I took er out for a good forty five minute test drive. Thing is plenty peppy enough and comfy. WOW those seats could hug me all day. And they will. Not too mention enough for a baby seat. (We are expecting our first on May 2) And too boot i thought, shame on me, that i had stalled at the first red light. I couldn't believe it. I tapped the gas to be sure and what do you know it revved. Guess i didn't stall it is just that quite. Holy cow. Can't even hear it. Awesome. The baby will love that. OKay enough of the novel. Mellenium Gold for this guy by the way. Fully Loaded. PEace

Good for you! More people should be so confident in themselves!! I'm seriously considering the Echo Hatch for myself. Within the next year to year and a half, I'll be getting a car and so far, I am head over heels in love with it! I haven't test driven it yet, but I have sat in it at the Toronto Auto Show and was pleasantly surprised with it! Is it peppy? And are there a lot of aftermarket options for this car? I'm interested in performance and asthetics (body kit, rims --what's the largest rim that would fit? - full exhaust system, headers, etc.). Ohhhh.. if I had the money today.. hehehe.. I want me Echo ![]() |

I just purchased a 2004 Echo Hatchback RS more or less for my two sons. Only problem it has been so much fun to drive that my sons don't get to drive it much. I've only had it for 8 days now and the pictures below were taken before I had the windows tinted.

I have one too.
I got one of the first ones, a basic blue 2Dr hatch, the cheapest edition. Got a great deal on it. Power steering and other options on this car are just extra weight and waste of money, its not hard to steer at all. The only thing I miss is the rear wiper. The spoiler looks kind of cute too but i'll put it aftermarket for cheaper.
So when is TRD coming out with the supercharger already? I'm looking forward to getting it. My local dealer says it and the engine will still be covered under warranty if it have it installed with them... I can upgrade my warranty to 100,000 kms and have a hell of a fun time... I stripped out the interior and the car is like a go-kart. Nimble, light.. I could use better rubber tho but can't afford it. |

450hp? From a Vitz? How - and can you post a picture?
I just took one for a lengthy test drive - 2dr, auto. I'm going to pick it up again tomorrow for an overnight test drive before I make my final decision, but I like it so far. It is a bit odd-looking, but then, I'm a bit odd anyway so I don't mind. ![]()
