94 Transport driver power window problem
OK - so i have scanned over the forum and seen other problems about switches working sometimes and not other times.....-
but I think i have a different problem. The drivers door window NEVER works. I recently got the van and the drivers window is held up with a wood shim. If I hit the switch - I can hear the motor running, but the window does nothing. Without the shim, it just falls down. So, I took the panel off and it is still on the track, and the motor still runs, but it just doesn't move. Here's what I think- I noticed that when the van is running, and put into park, that the doors will automatically lock themselves. I think that the previous owner got locked out of the van while it was running and forced the window down to get in. And I think the "forcing down" did a number on something in there. That's just a hunch of course, but the best i can come up with. Anyhow, I can't really see in there to even have a clue as to what I am looking for, so if any of you have diagrams or insight in this problem, let me know - Unless someone comes to my rescue, it's the wood shim all summer with no A/C. Thanks Ray |

Re: 94 Transport driver power window problem
If the motor runs, but nothing moves, it's likely that a gear or some other mechanism is stripped/broken. I've never taken my door panel off to see how the door operates, but on other vehicles that I have, there usually is gear attached to the motor that then meshes with another gear attached to the arm that does the actual raising and lowering. That's where I would look for your problem at first.

Re: 94 Transport driver power window problem
More Than Likely Your Gear That Goes To The Regulator Is Stripped. Depending On What Year You May Have To Go To Boneyard Or Dealer To Get Pwer Window Regulator.

Yeah - I figure the gear is stripped/broke - so is it a dealer only part than?
And furthermore - how the heck would i change it - ? |

Re: 94 Transport driver power window problem
Most window regulators are available after market. I've replaced several that were just the motor/gear. I also had a 97 Saturn that to replace the motor, you had to replace the whole regulator assembly. The different ones I've ever replaced were fairly self explanitory as to how they came out and went together.

As a starter, this might help getting into that door.
