bad publicity
does anyone else on here feel that all the 1986 and older 5000's were wrongfully accused by morones that had their feet on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and just wanted to sue someone for themselves acting like morones?

I assume you are talking about when your shifting from park into reverse or drive and the car supposedly lurches forward. I can say that it never happened to me. I had a 1986 5000s automatic. So I don't know what the problem was. The only problem I had was that the Power Steering/Power Brake (I think that's the name) fluid leaked like none other in the summer. And it was this wierd vegetable oil that cost a crapload that I would by 3 cans at a time. Apart than that, it was a great car I wish I still had. Luckily, the A8 doesn't use that oil anymore.

Re: bad publicity
Ah, the Audi Mineral oil. Expensive stuff. Mine's never leaked, thankfully.
Regarding the question, I am 31, my very first car I ever had was in 1986, my dad got me a brand new 5000 CS Turbo. Awesome car, luxury, performance, turbo! It was amazing. I never had an issue with what was dubbed "Unintended Acceleration". I have had 18 cars since 1986 and ironically, still have my 5000 CS, have never gotten rid of it. It's in stellar condition, I was told it's a 95 out of 100 car. Drove it around town today doing errands. I think it was bad publicity, hands down. CME |
