Which gas RTR to buy?
I have a Tamiya TL01, only becasue it's the only way I could get a Lancer Evoloution body pre Evo VII design(it's the Evo IV). It's gettin a Reedy Ti World Mod motor, and capable ESC on a stock chassis. 40+ MPH, and that's that. Maybe some aluminum anodized suspension parts.
Also, I'm thinking about cutting out the air dam on the front. How much will that hurt performance? But now I want glow. This time it's gonna be RTR. What is the best RTR car for the price? I need opinions. I don't care what the body is, because it'll get replaced by one of Tamiya's beautiful pieces, a Skyline GT-R 200mm. I'm thinking of: Tamiya XB-G (can get for $200, but probably very slow) Associated TC3 (fastest-supposedly 60+ mph stock) GS Vision RTR

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
Yeah, the Tamiya is kinda out of it.
The GS, and the TC3 have 2 speeds, and I've seen the GS for $280, and the TC3 about the same. I'm sure the $80 saved on the Tamiya wouldn't be worth it, since it'd take >$80 to add a .15/.18 and 2 speed tranny. That tag was on my Civic "just because". My car used to have that tag on it, but it was too recoginzable if I did something "stupid" on the streets, I could easily be sniffed out, and believe me it's easy for the cops to get it. Happened before, so I took it off.

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
yea forget the XBG, its a plastic tub chassis, nothing is adjustable, and its all bushings not bearings... i havent heard of the GS but i have heard good things aobut the TC3.. its a race-level R/C so its a performer
i want a plate like that lol ya i could see that stickin out lol and there is a 2speed power start version of the OFNA LD3 RTR its 300 at tower hobbies. |

The OFNA LD3 Pro hits 50+ MPH, from what i hear its a real durable and fast car.

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
Might go with the Associated.
I checked out this guy's Nitro RS4 3, for only $150, but it was WELL used. I might get it for $100 or less, but still go with the Associated. So, just a question about the Tamiya, although I'm not getting it based on stock speed...the XBG uses a similar chassis to TL01? Or is it even more "beginnery" like the QD?

trust me don't even bother w/ a Tamiya car.. thy're junk... low quality... when it comes down to r/c cars.. you're basically gonna get what you pay for...
there is more to r/c cars then speed/power... as you get more into it, handling is more important then power... |

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
go with the ofna. it's super durable! scrap the xgb and only consider the ntc3 if you got lots of dough for broken parts but it's a racer. personally i recommend hpi rs4evo for durability and ease of use.

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
the xbg has similar chassis with with tt-01. tamiya kits are not fast but they're indestructable! and tamiya is the world champ 2 years running with the trf415 this year.

Re: Which gas RTR to buy?
As far as the racing thing, speed is really all I'm looking for. Otherwise I'd be using a Dodge Stratus, Chrysler 300M, or Mazda 6 body, but for me it's looks + top speed + acceleration(which is why Tamiya's body are exclusively used by me)
I'm pretty much gonna build this thing for 1/4 mile runs. After the engine is done (will be a thirsty engine)and all the auxiliary electronics (supercharger ESC, lights) the thing will proabaly use a whole battery pack + tank of nitro between startup and the end of the 1/4. My goal is do 13's at +100 MPH, while looking good. Also, If I get a another cam, I'll get pics of my TL01 up.
