Re: New to the forum, check out my current fabrication project

I'm trying to figure out how run all the fuel lines to the injectors when I build my strait 6 because theres no fuel rails that will adapt to it, so I might have to make one, I'm not sure if running individual fuel lines is going to work well, whats going to keep the injectors snug against the manifold and the fuel lines snug against the injectors?

I will be welding two tabs off the sides of the hats that bolts will run through to the manifold to keep them from popping off. The injectors are almost press fitted into the bungs and rail. You don't need very much to keep it together, just something to prevent the rail(or in my case, hats) from moving much. If you grab the rail on a stock 302 you can wrench it around a good bit, they're only secured by two 5/16ths bolts which run perpendicular to the injectors. They don't clamp down on the injectors at all.

By the way, you can buy specialty injectors that, instead of having the grommet top for fuel rails, have hose fittings on top. I'd get them and save myself the trouble, but the only ones I've found are quite pricey. I think around $100 a pop.
Here is a site for unmachined fuel rail sold by the foot:
http://www.fuelairspark.com/Informat.../FS2001/11.pdf

Here is a site listing the hose end fuel injectors:
http://www.rceng.com/prices.htm
I need roughly 50lb/hr injectors, or 550cc/min.... $95 a piece.
At the top it says:
"We can provide injectors in any format, any type of mounting or fuel rail configuration. These include hose end, large o - ring American / European fuel rail, small o - ring Japanese fuel rail and custom additional controller units."

I'm not sure what they mean by hose end exactly, but I think they may look like this:

They just have a built in way of retaining a 'hat'.

I'll have to check those out. Any new fuel injectors are going to be around 100 each.

Nah, I've found plenty in that flow range for around $60 apiece.

Those are overkill, $55 each.. Sold out though.
