Windshield wiper and other recalls on the 2002
I just got the notice about the windshield wiper motor recall on the 2002s and will be taking it in in a couple weeks.
What other recalls have there been? I want to make sure I haven't missed any. I remember the seatbelt one about a month ago, mine seem to work ok from the test instructions that came with the recall. There was also something else, i think it was related to the shifter staying locked in park when the key was not turned, something like that. Any thing else? |

We just took our 2002 Trailblazer LS in for that same windshield wiper motor recall, and I brought with me printouts from the GM TechLink "technical service bulletins" website that I also needed fixed. You can search through current and archived articles here: (I simply went to each bulletin and searched for "Trailblazer" until I found stuff that applied to my truck) http://service.gm.com/gmtechlink/ I mainly had two additional problems... the A/C not blowing cold (dealer said it was that it simply needed recharge... my truck has 50k miles and is out of the 3/36 warrantee, so they would not cover it) .... and I also printed out the service bulletin for the DEFECTIVE tail lamp circuit boards. Too many other Trailblazer's I've seen when I follow them only have their high-mounted-third-brake-light active when they step on the brakes... both sides of the tail lights "burn out" ... or seem to. Actually, it's a faulty circuit board that needs to be replaced on both tail lamp assemblies. If you've ever burned out a light in the tail lamp in your trailblazer... get this recall/tech bulletin fixed for free from your dealer!! Hopefully that sheds some light on your recall questions... -- ZEPCOM 2002 Trialblazer 4WD LS in Pewter |

thanks for that techlink site
I did have a bad bulb once. it was in for an oil change and they noticed it and fixed in under warranty. also got new brake rotors under warranty when it was in for the windshield wiper problem. I had noticed a major vibration when braking and figured it was the rotors or pads and was expecting to have to pay. they said the rotors were corroded and fixed them for free |

MyGMLink.com
Hey Gang...
I just got my '02 TB LTZ 4x4 back from service today (again!) Recalls, and other warranty repairs, re-do warranty repairs... etc. I try to love my TB, but Chevy makes it difficult some days... As for access to the recall items that effect your specific vehicle, visit this site (MyGMLink.com) and register your ride. Once registered, it will provide you alerts to any outstanding recalls that have not been addressed on your vehicle. This is based on your TB's VIN number, so it is very specific to you! There are other resources on the site for you as well... https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/chevrolet/home |

I didn't use outlook... or search on the local computer at all. What I did is go to the gmtechlink website in internet explorer and typed in the word "trailblazer" into the website's search field and clicked search, directly from that website. I don't quite remember... but I think that the "Technical Service Bulletin" was posted sometime in 2003... but I don't know when it actually made it into a recall. All you need to do is call a local chevy dealership with your VIN number written down and handy to read them over the phone, and they should be able to tell you which recalls are active for your truck, and furthermore they should then be able to work with you to schedule your warrantee service. ** Even if your truck is outside of the 3 year / 36k mile warrantee.... Ours had like 52k on it when we got the tail lamps and lock override warrantee work done. Hope this helps... Doug ZEPCOM |
