what to look for when buying a Z32TT

im gona buy my baby Z tt in 4 months...since im not a car expert when it come to engines and parts under the hood...so what do i have to look for when checking the engine and stuff under the hood? how do you know if the engine and the turbos is still in good condition? and how can u tell if the turbos lag? just say u step ur foot on the gas hard right! and it take half a second for the turbos to kick in...that is turbo lag rite?

If you haven't taken apart a few engines, just looking at one, especially one as packed in as a VG, you aren't going to be able to tell much. Just look for anything loose or missing, leaks or signs of stupidly done mods.

When driving, just listen and look for any vibration, various clicking, taping, and anything out of the ordinary.

Depends on whats going on at the moment. If you are on the freeway and down shift from 5th to 3rd and floor it then the turbos will respond much quicker then if you are going down a road at 35 and hit the gas. However, lag can be combatted with various upgrades, most notably a set of down pipes, as exhaust components are very important to turbo cars. The only thing more effective to reducing lag with the stock turbos would be to add a very expensive set of performance manifolds which start at about $1900 and require an engine removal to install. And if you are going there you might as well upgrade the turbos. Remember, the turbos are just a shaft with a bladed wheel at each end, one that is pushed by the exhaust which turns the other that pushes air into the engine faster than the engine could ever just suck it in. That wheel has to spin at tens of thousands of rpms to make alot of pressure so you can inject more gas. And that can take a while, especially given a stock car.
