Newer does have advantage. Technology advancement happens so fast that you either keep up or be left in dust. For example new VVT, new welding method etc.

The car actually got downgraded when OBD2 went into effect.

Anyways GT-S is a much better car than GSR in my mind. However Keep in mind that Honda B Series engine have a much better aftermarket support. I am not making any excuses I am just saying the truth.

the integra has the experience. it's the veteran of the sport compact market as we know it. it's been the benchmark for sport compacts for years and built itself quite a name in the sport compact market, particularly in the aftermarket. during its time, the integra will have become invincible and it still remains a very strong alternative in the market. the gt-s is new, and it's trendy. i think it's a valiant first effort and a huge improvement over the previous celica. i'm just now getting used to its looks. and i'm looking forward to a gt-s/rsx-s rivalry to grow.

Celicas & GSRs...

Personally, I like the Celicas. Its taken me a while to get used to them
but I think that they are a sharp car. I drive a stockier than stock
GSR and I can hang with a GTS. The 1/4 mile stats are virtually the
same on them and the GSR and Celica both being in the 15.1-15.3 range depending on the driver. If it isnt a GTS, I run away from the
Celica from the start. I had one try me from the line one night and
I hit a 4-5K launch and stuck it. Dude backed off in less than 1 gear,
it was sad. One day some modded ITR guy will do me the same way... but that will be fun too =) I floated the valves on 1/8/02 during a missed shift. Bummer? =( =D My car is apart and I decided that I want to be in the neighborhood of 180hp on the dyno in a couple months. I only have 36K miles... hey, you play ... you will pay eventually guys. My ACT HDSS clutch is on my coffee table being put in tomorrow along with new ITR valves (same part # as GSR) and springs (lighter and beefier in ITR with inners and outers on all valves, should be good for 8500 RPM) and I am having a JDM ITR or a JDM CTR intake cam shipped in when this all breaks in. That should be good for 10wHp or so. My setup is still at stock rideheight, so I want to fix that asap. Any input on the best spring rates and shocks to run on the street will definately be taken into consideration. Any input on JDM cams for B18C1?

definately right about the RSX...

My buddy has a RSX-S and he took me for a ride. He gets a
wheel in 3 gears; better clutch than the GSR. Although,
it needs a different cam profile. There is nothing in that
car below 5K rpm. Perhaps a VTEC controller / JDM
intake cam combination will fix that. I heard from the
ACURA guys that they have already have had two mechanical
overrevs in those cars already. They swear by the B18C1/5.
I guess they havent had the time to become confident in the
RSX yet. As of now, the RSX-S is a Celica Killer.
