92 honda hatch ignition (HARD PROBLEM)
Me and a friend bought a 92 honda civic with a 1.6L Delsol engine which we have no idea what year its from. the day we picked it up it was not starting but after about an hour of cranking it worked. On the way back to the house the car just stalled and died and never started anymore so it had to be towed. The next day it started fine and we took it for a ride then the next day it had troubles so i went to find out the problem. We ended up stripping the dash and everything out of it. We took a look and found a security system in it which we took out. This whole security was wired really badley with wires taped and all screwed up and had a bunch of relays. One of the main wires that we saw was a ground wire for the solinoid on the starter which goes the ignition. When i started testing the igniton i was pretty sure all the contacts lit up but right now that solinoid dosen't. Then when i looked at the distributor the negative on the coil was working but the postive wasen't, 30 min later after doin testing i went back to check and it lit up the + lead so both lit up with test light and when i put everything back on the distributor it started. Dunno why or what i did or if i did anything at all but it worked. 2 days later we fixed the timing to honda spec. and did the valves to stop them from ticking. we started the car and the valves were a little tickey but nothin too bad. I think it started 1 more time after with no problem but then thats it, it just stoped working.
Now i have been trying to see where all the wires go i found out that the ignitor in the distributor is fine because i threw in a new one and no go. I have also run a strobe test and resistance test on the coil which checked out. At this point the distributor sends no power to distributor cap. I have also found out 2 groups of wires which go the distributor. 1 group is 2 wires 1 wire is balck and yellow which seems to be power and the other is blue which sseems to be tach. the other group is 8 wires i think which run to the computer 2 are for top dead center sensor ,2 for crank sensor other are unknown but i am sure a couple work the magnets in the distributor and some other stuff. These wires all come from the computer. So anybody know what ta do Questions Are all the contacts on the back of the ignition suppose to light up?? When u crank the engine is the sensor wires suppose to light up?? Can u trick the computer or make the car start without all these wires and make a direct start?? Alright thats all can think of |
