Messed up 1st gear
Recently, my 1st gear take off seems fucked up. The car jerks, stalls, way more than when I learned to operate stick. And recently I had the clutch replaced. Even if the RPM is revved up above 1K, the car chokes and hesitates as I (gently) release the clutch. Any reason for this? Btw, haven't done much of competing, as I felt it might have detrimental to my health, hehe. But now I wanna improve my shifting, another words, make it faster and flawless transition for every shift. So I am wondering what the hell is speed shifting, other than what it literally translates? I usually tend to push it 5000rpm for every shift (when I wanna get going fast), is that too stressful on the engine? I mean what's the fastest but safest shift before redlining on the N/A Z32?

Re: Messed up 1st gear
Well typically you are supposed to shift at around 3,000-3,500 in normal driving.
But going over isnt BAD for your engine... It's cleaning out the carbon deposit. Engines are supposed to be wound up once in a while... Otherwise the RPM wouldnt go up so damn high -Wes

Yeah, that's when I shift around, 3K or so. But when I wanna get going fast, I push it all the way to 5k. But I never tried going above 5, risking damaging the engine what not. So I was wondering what's the typical poweband limit on the N/A? Mine goes all the way to 9K I believe, 7K being the redline. But on second gear, it seems I can only push till 5.5K.
Anyway, Im still having trouble launching the first gear, it's acting funny.

u should be able to push that all the way to the rev limiter which is around 7000 if u wanted to, atleast 6,500. your car shouldnt stop at 5500. i have an automatic so its basically set on where the engine needs to shift for safe operation. when to the floor, in first gear my tranny switches to second probably about 6600, and about 6800 into 3rd. never floored it past there that i recall. but dont go out and push your car to the limiter everytime u want to go fast.
