Re: weird thing happens when idle

Dealership. Should be in the $40-$50 range.

Quantity Manufacturer Part Number Description Your Price Details
FUEL INJECTION IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE
MOTORCRAFT CX-1766 [Idle Air Control Valve] 1F2E-9F715AA 27.15

This is what I found at autopartsgiant.com. It says motorcraft so I guess I will call the dealership and compare.

I had a similar problem with my Windstar 2000 when Idle. I did a temporary fix by turning up the idle position to avoid engine dying when breaking/stopping (especially with the A/C is running all the time). Then the CEL came on. The Autozone test showed code P1507 (Idle Air Control Underspeed Error). Does anyone know if this means I should replace (or clean) the IAC Valve or IAC Solenoid or both? Thank you for your help.

Btw, is there any harm with turning up the idle position (other than the gas consumption) until the problem is fixed?

That is weird. Your 2000 windstar has a price of 54 and my 2001 windstar has a price of 27. Look for yourself. Why would your year be a different part?

Re: weird thing happens when idle

Stuff is changed on a continual basis. It could be that the engine load due to accessories (alt size for example) changed, so that required a change in IAC valves etc.

You really would not believe the sheer complexity of making all the small parts work togather properly. It's a mess. No, GM and DC are no better.
