Test Drive
I went and test drove the GTO today and I liked it.The shifter was very smooth.handled excellant.I like the interior nice leather and seemed to be very comfy on a longer drive. The exhaust is awsome. But I was a little disapointed in the accelleration.I dont know,It just didnt seem that fast.I drove the six speed and it didnt impress me. I have a GTP and it only has 250 HP and It didnt seem that much faster than my car.Dont get me wrong I did feel a little difference but it has 100 more HP.Yes I have been driving manual transmissions all my life.Ive driven twin turbo porsches, corvettes, ect. So I know how to drive.Well my big question is.I drove it with the trac button on.Now I was told that it makes a difference. If it does how big of a difference?I went there very interested and would have bought one but changed my mind at the last minute because of that reason. For the money I would rather buy a ws6 Trans Am.For the people that own one Im not putting the car down,I just expected more for the money.

I test drove the GTO this weekend. It’s a 350 HP car. To me if you are going to have a 350 HP car you should DRIVE it. I don't feel comfortable driving the car. Yea the seats are great, well bolstered and keep you in place. The steering has great response, acceptable roll. Exhaust sounds extremely great. LOVE the exhaust. Interior is well above "GM standards". Gaps are tighter and the fit and finish far exceeded my expectations for a GM car. All this praise and I still wouldn't buy the car. Why? Well w/ 350 HP I want to drive the car. In order to drive the car I need to feel confident, and I don’t. The distance between the break and gas is too wide. I can't do a good 'heal toe' or even a 50/50 to rev-match under breaking while downshifting. Because that gap is so great the distance between the side of the car and the clutch isn't big enough to put your foot down when you feel you need a little more support. IF you can manage to get you foot down there w/o taping the clutch they didn't put a kick plate / foot rest down there. I know that I may just picky SOB but little things like these is why the Germans are so much better w/ driver comfort. I find it hard to believe that I am the only one that noticed this. I don't understand how someone on the GM staff over looked this. The fix is simple. Drill the holes on the break and clutch 1/4 - 1/2 inch to the left. Hopefully a GM designer reads this (or an aftermarket peddle maker). I am crazy or has anyone else noticed this?
