1999 Cavalier 2.4 Z24 Strange Issues

Ok here is what is going on with my 1999 Cavalier 2.4 Z24. When driving on the road and moving under 1500 RPM's it is very sluggish to accelerate and the car runs kinda jerky at that spot. Once I push the gas pedal down and force it past that point it runs fine. Like when driving on the interstate it does just fine. Next when I come to a stop the car idles sporadically and the RPM gauge jumps around and the car acts like it wants to die out. One time it did on me. Next when moving at very slow speeds sometimes like when turning into a place. The car has starting just cutting off on me completely as if like I turn the key. No sputter or anything. Now the sad part is the Check Engine light is NOT on. I have no way to pull any codes because it's not giving them. I know the light works because when I turn the key it lights up to show it's working then shuts back off upon starting the car. Any help on this issue would be great as I am at a lost. Please help me get this fixed!!

Thanks,

Jason

so you haven't figured it out yet? sounds like your timing is out of time or the cps.or tps also could be moduele under coil pack. have you run any sea foam threw your gas? it also could be in your coils i would take them off and have them tested at autozone or advanced. iac could be going out also. have you check all your vaccume hoses? one more thing when is the last time you have tuned it up?anyway good luck to you.........

I did a tune-up on it just a few month ago. I bought the book for it and was looking through it. It doesn't use a standard PCV Valve like most cars and trucks it has a crankcase ventalation seperator. It says if the hoses for that system become cracked or have holes or the part itself becomes clogged or faulty it could cause most of the issues I am having. When I took off the plastic Air breather cover the inside of the throttle body was very dirty and there was oil on the end of the vaccume line that connects to the plastic air breather. Could be maybe be the cause or am I barking up the wrong tree? Has anyone ever messed with one of these and changed it in which is solved these issues?

Dunno if you have checked this yet, but check the vacuum line to the MAP sensor... it`s on the front, the front of the throttle body to the map sensor itself.... my sis-in-law`s car did the same thing, stalling at random, no codes... it could also be causing your low rpm issue, but I haven`t seen that as much. That`s where I`d start.

yes if throttle is dirty it very well cause a problem you need to get throttle body cleaner and not carb cleaner. clean it with that and run sea foam threw your gas. and again check all vaccume lines.
