After experiencing a severe grinding noise from the front right wheel, I jacked up the car to investigate. Found the wheel was locked up tight. Investigation found the inner pad worn to the metal and rotor gouged to match. The outer pad was worn about half way. This also explained the abnormally fast tire wear on this wheel that I had been attributing to alignment problems. The calipers were replaced a year or so ago (first time I ever broke down and replaced any of those). Using a caliper compressor, I was unable to drive the piston back in. Believing the unit to be faulty and the cause of my woes, I replaced the caliper and pads. The next day (yesterday), the wheel locked up again. If I bleed of the brake fluid at the caliper, all is well. If I break the line at the master cylinder there is no difference; still locked up. I am suspecting a restricted line. Ideas?

I think you are right there, the rubber flex hose has deteriorated and colllapsed internally..replace both front flex hoses, and make sure your caliper slider pins are cleaned and well lubed

:p All better! The hoses WERE the problem. Replaced both hoses, got a new tire, and good as new. Cheap fix to a bad problem.
