I had the famous overheating problem after changing antifreeze.I had read the past threads and didn't come up with a good answer. So after trying different things I got out my lazer thermometer and checked things out.The one thing that stood out was the temp difference on each side of the thermostat.I doubted the thermostat was bad just because of antifreeze change so I grabbed my big pliers and squeesed the hose clamp and let some fluid out and I'm assumming the air bubble and now all is back to normal. So I'm guessing the air bubble was keeping the thermostat from reaching opening temp.I hope this helps.

not sure if the 2.2l has bleeder screws if it does they will be around thermo housing
and water pump.gently open & bleed off until air is removed.good luck

It does have a bleeder.I bleed it 3 times still no luck. The hose I opened up is on the other side of the thermostat and I believe thats where the bubble was stuck.
