have an 02 Cav, 2.2 OHV, auto, driving down the highway the radio quit, even display off, wouldn't come back on. Noticed speedo, tach and all other gauges at zero, and all warning lights on, odometer says "error". No driveability issues, turn signals, wipers fan etc work normally. All fuses seem OK.
Now, if I shut off key then immediatly restart, everything works..for a couple hundred feet, then dies again. Has anyone else experienced, this? I am leaning towards a bad ignition switch at this point, but I believe all of these circuits may be controlled by the pcm, is that true? Any thoughts on this welcome, thanks

See if you can wiggle the key while it's working and make it act up, or see if you can wiggle the key while it's acting up and make it stop.

Those modules aren't controlled by the PCM, the PCM only controls the powertrain (eng and trans). They are all connected by the computer data lines, but one failing shouldn't affect the others. The PCM not giving an output to the instrument cluster wouldn't cause the radio to not work, and the radio shouldn't affect (or be affected by) either module. Sounds like you are most likely losing power at one terminal on the ignition switch, from what you said.

Update on this..took it to dealer, they found airbag module corroded and interupting data link between various modules, car was acting really squirlly, eachtrip something different was happening, and new problems were cropping up. can be traced to standing water under carpet, which shorted out module. So far leak testing seems to point towars front cowl/fan intake area, anyone else had leaks around there, and any solutions? No sense putting a replacement module in until leak or leaks corrected. Almost seems like water somehow getting into fan/heater housing and dripping into car from there, but I just can't see how this may be happening
Thanks
Jeff
