Sup guys, ok this is for whoever has done cam swap on his/her car. I got a 2000 firebird 3.8 manual bone stock with the exception of a flowmaster and high flow feline. I'm hoping that next year I can put on a performance cam in my car. The ? Is, which one do I go for and what else do I need. And no, I don't think is a waste of time or money because (and this is 4 those who think so), I think its more impressive or eye catching or whatever you wanna call it for a 5'11" 198 lbs guy to bench press and almost squat what a 6' 3" 235 lb'r does, if you see where I'm going with that example. Unfortunetly I think am gonna have around 1000 or 1200 cash to play with.. so any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

the best cam is the kind you get when you call up comp cams and give them all the details on your car and they fix you up with the perfect cam.

You'll probably need new valvetrain (springs, pushrods, retainers...etc) and at the very least, bolt-ons, depending on the cam you get. Cams aren't a waste, as long as you support them correctly. I suggest some intake work and some headers to replace the stock exhaust manifolds. If you don't support the cam, you'll choke it, and it will be a WASTE.
