Reccomendation re: ABS weirdness

A few weeks ago, in my '97 LS as I turned a corner in the rain, the bump and steering angle combined to activate the ABS, which isn't unusual, but it continued making that solenoid active crunchy sound and the yellow ABS fault light came on, along with the Low Trac light...and it seemed the ABS was active even on normal braking.
And I thought dammit, now I've got the dreaded Lumina ABS disease, and I'm screwed....but I pulled over and shut it off as soon as I realized something very weird was happening, let it sit about 30 seconds, then recycled the ignition, and everything was normal again...
Don't know what caused it, but I began thinking if I'd let it go and kept driving, the fault would have burned out something...those solenoids and accumulator pump and such weren't made for continuous operation...
So I humbly suggest this way of handling it if this problem starts to rear it's head on your car, see if you can get it to reset before it goes on too long...you might get lucky too. I think I dodged a bullet here...
Don't know how long it will last...I'll keep you posted.
