Water leak

OK...First, I am new and pretty inept at repair work, but finances as they are, I figured I would pick all of your brains before taking this anywhere.
I got home tonight, a dry night, with no issues at all. I had been home for about an hour and went to the garage for a smoke and heard dripping from under the 07 Aveo. It seems to be on the passenger side, kind of right below the floorboard, possibly a little more towards the front end. Being discovered at mindight, I don't have the light to really pinpoint exactly where this comes from...I do know it is water, or at least another colorless, odorless liquid. And it is not letting up...a steady drip.
Any ideas/ suggestions? Thanks

Ok, I'll take the easy one--

Were you running your AC on the way home? That's the only source of clean water drips I would know of.

That's got to be it, unless the cooling system is for some reason filled with water instead of coolant. We usually get 20-30 of these leaks in the shop over the summer :)

There's a good chance the evaporator drain is partially plugged and water is pooling up inside. An hour seems like a long time for there to still be a drip. You should find and correct the blockage, if you get too much water in there it will start leaking onto the carpet and cause mold/mildew problems. Mold/mildew in the HVAC box is also a possibility if not corrected, but it doesn't grow on plastic nearly as easily as carpet.

Thanks...I wasn't running the AC, it is still not quite time for that in Chicagoland, especially at night, but I will keep an eye on this. No repeats of the drip yet and no real adverse effects seem evident. I appreciate the feedback.

Were you running the defroster? On my '06, the AC compressor runs whenever the defrost or def/floor settings are used (takes condensation off the windshield). Probably the same on an '07.

Now that you mention that, I was. Thanks for the info.
