93-3.1 Steering issues

Finally get it running good and now steering is acting up.
Here goes. The wife was out of town and called saying the engine was making a wierd noise. She held the phone over engine. Power steering pump. Told her how to check level and fill. By the time she got back (15 miles) it was growling bad and arm strong steering. No fluid at all. I filled up and it started leaking at pump.
Replaced pump and cycled the steering to get air out of system. Worked great. By the time I got to town was leaking again. This time it was the pressure hose. Got one at Napa thinking easy fix. RIGHT. After bending, welding different wrench combinations to get at the rack side, I finally took it to the shop to get done. Worked fine.
Now the power steering pump is starting to growl again when turning either direction. Fluid level full. Day later, it feels like it is racheting when turning at low speeds. Not bad but there. Level is still full. Everything was working fine after all repairs now this. Any ideas before I blow it up.
Thanx

...just to make sure simple things are done before anything else...is there any possiblity that the belt was contaminated by steering fluid and slips at some spots...or that the tensioner has been damaged ?

I purchased a rebuilt pump for my wife's 3.1 and the first one blew a seal before I got it checked the next one lasted about 1 months time and the thrust was bad appx. 1/8 inch movement front to back. The next pump is still working. Hopefully your using a puller and an installer with a bearing.

I have a Cornwell set that looks like this.
They also make a strainer to put in the return line if you got metal in the system.
