im buying a '91 camaro Z28 soon. its all stock with the 5.7 TPI. the car is in great condition. im buying the car for my new daily driver, and im kinda worried about gas prices. ive always been willing to sacrifice MPG for power, but this time i have to set a limit for myself. so i need to know, how many MPG do people usually get with the stock 5.7 350 TPI?? but i am still greedy for more power, so im questioning if i should throw some aluminum heads and a cam onto the car, or if i should just upgrade to a 383stroker?? i like the power the 383 will produce, but my main question is, how many MPG will a 383 get?? im hoping somebody in a similer situation may have some good advice. should i keep it stock? modify it? or go for the 383? if i knew how many MPG i will be dealing with it will be easier to make a decision. any advice will be great. if only american V8 could get the 30MPG :headshake

I am in a similar quandry. I currently have an 86 TA that is supposed to have a 305 with TPI. When I bought it however it now has a cammed 350 with a holley 750 4 barrel. I love the sound the monster cam produces and it makes tons of power. I would never have considered this setup over a stroker 383 but the sound is so much better and the power is right now.

if you want mpg, get a 4 cyl car as your daily and keep the camaro as a toy/hobby car.
