Hello, I just had my shift cable on a 92 Honda Accord, Automatic changed. The shift lever was removed to check freedom of movement and replaced. After everything was replaced and the car would not start. After several attempts the car starts and the check engine light is on. After several attempts the car starts, check engine light on and have to place the car in neutral to start.
Is it possible that the wiring for the shifter was replaced wrong??? I am in the process of having the check engine light checked.
Also, the computer was reset by removing the negative lead ( I thought positive) for 10 or so seconds. The car goes through a self check (I think) as the center PRNDL lights up and the D4 flashes then light's up green however after the car is started the check engine light comes on and the D goes black. If I put the car in reverse it lights up R and if I place the car in D3 it lights up. 1,2 etc.. are also OK.
Thanks.

You probably need to adjust the cable. Make sure the transmission range sensor position and the shift lever matches.
