Well....it has been a good car... 205K miles with NO major issues..... thought I had a bad battery...NO....bad starter...NO.....to much crack!!!! maybe ??? so much for the jokes...haha
So I tried to turn the motor over by hand from the harmonic balance nut.....marked it with chaulk......it will only ture 3/4 or 270degrees...one way and then back again...and come to a sold stop..I am 225... 6'0....it will not turn using a standard length breaker bar...beside...the compression is not that great as to stop it.....
Anyone have any other tricks or methods to confirm this failure ?????? I am going back to get my $$$$ for the new starter...I will keep the new battery for another car.....
Thanks, JJ

Have you tried taking the spark plugs out and see if that frees it up? (hydrolock?)
Otherwise that could indicate a broken connecting rod.

I will check that, good idea.......maybe an injector leaking.....but I do not smell gas....and the antifreeze level never changes......
I already started drinking...one more... hic..hic... six pack to go!!!!....so will do that this weekend....
How about the timing chain ?? ....maybe the chain broke and is jamming the crank sprocket.......I will check that also.....before I pull the motor....
Thanks again for the help!!! Cheers mate.....Dr JJ

have you tried removing the accessory belt then turning it?

This engine/year has a single belt...but yes...good idea !!! I will remove the belt, just to make sure nothing else is causing the lack of rotation.
So here is my plan...this weekend....darn, instead of going fishing... :(
1. Remove the belt....test the rotation.
2. Remove the spark plugs..look for water/gas residue or smell.....test for rotation...
3. If still the same....I am going to check the timing chain....
4. Drink beer...watch NASCAR race...drink more beer....depending what I find....
5. If major damage...ask Obama for a loan...everyone else has !!! :)
Here is how I see it.....No car, can't work, no work, no BMW's X5's get Ft and Rear Bumper...No BMW's for the rich guys, rich guys can't spend money at strip joints, hookers, resturant's, Starbucks, Sport Pubs and illegal drugs....SO we all lose...So I know Obama will help me !!!!
Is that a good plan ???
Cheers mate, Dr. JJ

Haha  Nice post.
Hopefully it doesn't end up being anything major. One thing I have learned over the many years, never rely on a F-body as your daily driver. :(

You are right there about the daily driver......My back up is my chopper....an old / rebulit '73 XLCH with a modified frame, ape hanger bars, and bored motor. Just waiting for ole man winter to leave the Carolina's....and it is ride baby ride...
Had to pass on Dayton this year....I hate it....had to spend the $$$ on a new roof for the shop.
I will keep you advised on what I find this weekend....if I hear the fish are bitting....forget the car....I smell deep fried fish, slaw, beans and hushpuppies....and beer of course !!!
Cheers....Dr JJ
