ok so we just put a 700R4 transmission into my 87 camaro..After we filled the tranny with the tranny oil and let it sit for a few days..we get leaks under the oil pan where the seal is...but we replaced it with a new cork seal and need to know if the cork seals are any good or not or if we just need to tighten the screws??..then we have another leak where the speedometer plugs into the tranny...why would it be leaking..( wrong speedometer cable or....) we don't know and any help would be great!!
Thanx

cork gasket should be fine, snug the bolts up some and see if it helps. if not, the pan could be warped.
as for the speed sensor, you need a new o-ring most likely.

The speedometer cable connection uses an umbrella style seal on the speedometer gear and an O ring on the housing that is bolted to the transmission. If the leak is comming out of the actual cable connection then it is the umbrella seal thatis leaking. If you replace it and it still leaks, then you'll also need to replace the speedometer gear.

good point, I'm not familiar with the cable setup, as I have the electronic speed sensor.

Also, if you overtighten the pan, you're back to square one.
