86 iroc transmission for 87z28 transmission

I bought an 87 z28 camaro without a transmission. The gear shifter shows 1, 2, 3, and OD. I found an 86 iroc Z transmission in a junkyard. Will they be interchangeable?

What concerns will I have if I use the iroc Z transmission?

Any year V8 TH700R4 or 4L60 trans will work but NOT the 4L60E But make sure to get it from a Z-28/IROC or Trans Am/Formula (they were built stouter)
The onlt problem withthe 86 IROC trans is not knowing the condition of the transmission.

Unfortunately no. All you can do is get a trans from one of those cars and HOPE it wasn't swapped out earlier. The ONLY way to know what exactly you are getting is to buy a new (not reccommended) or freshly rebuilt (by a reputiable shop) transmission.
