Hey. I have a 92' lumina z34 and I was wondering your opinion on what to do with it. I want to paint it, put subs in it, add engine performance and way done the road possibly a new engine. I want your Ideas on what to do with it color wise and what to put in it. Also let me know the order I should do it in.

no, no problems...but I have the 3.1
I have a love/hate relationship with the 3.4 DOHC...it's a great strong motor to drive, but difficult to work on (by comparison) and needs special attention most owners aren't willing to give...as a result, most you run across either have issues or are about to...
My best advice to you would be before doing anything to it, take a look at that motor's required maintenance and do whatever needs doing, if you haven't already. That way, it'll be around for a long time. Seen too many turned into 3.4 liter paperweights from neglect...

I have a 3.4L DOHC v6.
How many miles are on it?
Mine had about 120,000 kilometers when I got it and I put another 50,000 km on it over 5 years.
By then the drive belt stripped out.
The drive belt and the drive belt idler pulleys and tensioner pulleys are meant to wear out together, and they are supposed to be replaced every 60,000 - 80,000 k.
The replacement kit includes the three pulleys. Then you also buy the belt.
Its not a bad job to do yourself, especially if you do it BEFORE the belt fails. You can then just lock the cams (they will already be aligned) and slide the old belt off and the new one on.
The idler pulleys are easy to replace too, its just the tensioner pulley that I found a bit tricky (we had never done it before).
I took mine off and on twice to get it just right. Its a tight fit too, not like a fan belt. You have to work slow and have patience.
The total cost doing it myself was around $350 for the kit, belt(s) etc.
I also replaced the fanbelt pulley while I was there and fanbelt. This puts the engine in a 'ready to run another 50,000 miles' condition.
You should also do wires and plugs, and replace oil /filter with synthetic oil.

change plugs and wires. upper intake cleaning. check ALL sensors. check the exhaust "headers to mufflers". change the oil every 3k as well as a pint of techron fuel treatment every 3k. drop in a k&n flatbed filter, and buy a perfomance chip. everything else will fail in intervals...
217,000 miles and still going strong...
