Looking at Focus

I'm looking at a 2000 Focus SE with 126000 miles. Its scratched up a bit, has a dent in the door, and the passenger mirror is off. It has an automatic, power locks, windows, and cruise. The tires are good and it has a new serpentine belt and balljoints. He wants 1700 for it. Is this a good deal? Any of the early Focus's have any major problems?

My wife owned a 2000 ZTS when I met her. She continued to own if for the first two years we dated. It was without a doubt the worst car she or I have ever owned. There was no single issue that always seemed to go wrong it just always seemed to be something new everyday! We ended up getting rid of the car with 60,000 miles on it and she had already put about as much money into it as the damn thing cost. I don't know if all of the Focus's are like this but her's was very well maintained and driven lightly. I know we will never look at a Focus again. If you do get it good luck, hopefully you get a better one than we had!
