Bought 1997 Jeep Cherokee. It had been sitting for over 2 years. Had to replace fuel pump. Got it running and it runs good. Now the gauges, tach, radio and interior lights are not working. Before we got it running we noticed the gas gauge was working intermittently, now not at all. Also noticed when you put key in ignition with door open, there is no door chime. All fuses check ok. Any ideas?

Welcome to AF.
I suspect you have a bad ground wire for the instrument cluster.

Thanks for the response. Could this keep the radio and interior lights from working?

I also found that when I turn the key to shut the engine off I hear about half a chime.......Could this be a bad ignition switch???

The radio may well use the same ground circuit as the gauges (possibly the interior lights too, but I am not sure).
As for the chime, sometimes bad grounds do odd things with other related circuits. Is it the 'lights on' chime that is going off, or the 'key in ignition' chime?
Also, when you say the fuse is okay, did you actually backprobe the fuse to see if there is power, or just look at it?

OK, I found the IOD fuse blown under the hood. Fuse 17. Replaced it and everything worked fine. I started the truck and it blew again.. What does this fuse feed and what could be blowing it???thanks

With out a good wiring schematic it will be hard to pin point wether its a wiring issue or a component. Look at a Haynes mauel, they have schematics in the back, if no luck there the only other option would be to unplug all the major items that the fuse powers. It should be easy enough, all the items that don't work now. Replace the fuse and turn the ignition to "on". if it blows you either forgot something or you have a wiring problem. It it holds, start plugging things back in till it blows. Indicating the culprit.
