i got a b&m shift kit for my 95 z28 with the 4L60e tranny and after i put it in as the instructions said, i lost all gears except first and reverse. the car will not shift out of first and i cant figure out why any suggestions?

my greatest suggestion. take it to a transmission tech. ive been wrenching on cars since i was 8, and when the time came to upgrade my transmission i paid the tranny guy at my dealership to do it for me. automatic trannys are very particular. if the check balls, or springs are out of place, the transmission is not happy.
that being said, my IROC is running a 700R4 wth a stage two B&M shift kit, corvette 1st to 2nd servo and aftermarket stall converter, and i havent had any problems. quite the contrary, it has made the car a completely different animal, in a very good way.
i would say that somewhere, something got put together wrong. if youre pressed on doing it yourself, id say take it all back apart, check for damaged components (clutches that are without friction material for instance) and assuming everything is ok, try putting it back together again. but with something like that there really is no replacement for experience.
i personally would take it to a trans tech to have it repaired.

I'd recommend buying an ATRA manual on the 4L60E. It's very helpful. The book would cover the valve body in detail. Much more productive than an ATSG manual. Though, I may be getting the two books mixed up. The preferred manual has an actual photo of the 4L60 on the cover...the other has a drawing of one. On the kit itself...I have never used a b&m shift kit before, but I have had very good results with transgo. After all, Gil Younger is "Mr. Shift."

yea, my transgo kit made my tranny perform rather nicely. Just need to stop all the damn fluid leaks.

is it possible you have 4 reverses and 1 foreward?

Tranny leaks?? If so, Transgo has a 4L60 kit that covers all the problems of the tranny...One being the front(pump) seal blowing out.
