They both have a 420A's just the intake and exhaust are flipped

They have the same block only. The don't have the same internals or valvetrain, intake or exhaust manifold. So they are NOT the same engine.
420a is what Mitsubishi calls their version of the ECC (DOHC engine in the neon) which was designed by Chrysler only.
