Front End Conversion Troubles...

So I got around to test fitting a fender to see how easy my 5th gen civic front end conversion will be. I was told it should be an easy bolt on conversion. Turns out it's gonna be harder than I thought...

(Looks like it lines up perfectly)

(Looks turn out to be decieving)

(Very decieving:( )

So it seems I'll need to weld the old and new fenders together in order for this to work. This sucks.

i'm going out on a limb, but maybe you can keep the 4g fenders and use 4g corners and then swap the rest...... would that work? or do you want the 5g cornerlights also?

I totally want the headlights, i really wanted the whole rounded look that the 5th gen front end would give me, but i guess i'll just settle for the headlights and bumper.

that sucks man, hopefully you can rig up something. I know there was a guy at the oregon show who was doing a 6th gen conversion, but he hacked up the stock fender for the headlights to fit, and didnt even have a hood yet

And then there is this guy with a 5th gen who was in an accident and has a 6th gen hood to tide him over :hehe:

WHY WOULD YOUWANT TO DO THAT TO YOUR CAR, THE SWAP LOOKS LIKE SHIT, NOT CLEAN AT ALL.

ive seen a few front end conversions that look really good, and others that...well...i guess it just matters how much time, money, effort, money, and love (money) you put into it

Here's the shop that did it, hit them up if you're in the northwest and want anything from a minor dent to be fixed to a complete conversion (http://www.geocities.com/tft_kustomcarz)

Hahahaha, I remember that dude with the CRX doing the 6th Gen front end swap... man, that looked so jacked up! hahaha... I gotta give him props though for doing it all himself, at least he's learning in the process...

Best thing about his car though was the "Budweiser" beer-tap for a shifter hahahaha

Sorry to hear about your conversion woes, Marc. I never would've thought it'd be a direct bolt-up jobby. The back end of the fender looks relatively easy to deal with using shome sheet metal and whatnot, but the front end looks like a real problem the way it overshoots the headlights so bad. Probably your best bet is going to be a hybrid of 4th and 5th gen fenders?
