I am looking for opinions from anyone that has actually installed or at least examined the contents of the latest versions these UIM kits. Could you comment on the differences in kit content and build quality of gaskets, o-rings and plastic UIMs, when these three brands (GM, APN, Dorman) are compared. The APN UIM Kit looks like the way to go but I would like to get the Maximum Life out of the replacement parts even if it means going all GM with a new LIM & UIM. By the way, Is there any reason to replace the bolts?
I called the local GM dealer and he said the GM UIM 89017272 for $158, is no longer a kit. The UIM gasket is $37 and the TB gasket is $26 extra.

I chose the Dorman after reading on forums about various ones. It came with a replacement EGR metal tube that had a smaller diameter stream. It came with an PCV valve. It had o-rings for the injectors, top and bottom rings.
The seals that are around the coolant passages are thick heavy o-rings.
I called technician service 800 number and got a very knowledgeable person about my question on the metal EGR replacement tube being loose for the lower intake manifold I had. Some intakes were drilled oversize and he told me how to fix it. He answered several other questions I had.

I like the APN. Before I found the APN I hear Dorman was better then the "new"
GM.
Not sure why but I was always skeptical of Dorman. Looked cheap at the store (Shucks).
There are many satisfide Droman people who like them. I don't really have a good reason, just didnt' feel right (Me, not the Intake Manifold).
When I bought the APN, it was less expensive, looked good in the add and when I called the lady on the phone, she knew all about it. Was very knowageable about the problem. She asured me this will end the priblem, so I bought it.
Chris.

I stopped into O'Reilly's and they opened sealed box that they said had a Dorman kit in it ($130). I could not see everything but it looked like it had a bunch of black injector o-rings. The orange UIM & blue TB gaskets were already attached to the UIM but looked good. There were at least 2 stovepipes in the kit.
Now here is the puzzling part.
I also stopped into NAPA and they had a opened box that they said was a Dorman kit ($163). In this case there were a bunch of brown o-rings. The orange UIM gasket and black TB gaskets were not attached. I could not see if there were any stovepipes.
There appears to be multiple kit contents variations.
