put a Cold air intake on it and take off the muffler. should be good for like 10-15 hp.

Actually, given that setup i wouldnt be supprised if he lost power.

This gen of civic is pretty tightly tuned from the factory, and short of Forced induction its been pretty hard to get any noticable gains out of straight bolt-ons.

+CAI and -Muffler = less restriction, which means more power. The muffler is in place to reduce noise, which sacrifices power. I'm sure the D17 is very well tuned, and maybe 10-15 hp is a stretch, but I could feel the difference in low-end torque. Plus it's easy to do and easily reversible. I'd like to get on a dyno, but there just aren't any in my area. I also have a vtec motor, so it may benefit a little more from minor mods.

Well I went from stock to Header, Intake & exaust and back to stock on an 01 EX that was Heavily autocrossed & open tracked for 4 years and I can honestly say that I never felt a difference in power or performance between the two. Noise yes, Power or lap time change, No.

and + CAI and - Muffler = Less restriction; doesn't Gaurentee more power.

For under 1k (way under) you can get NOS (wet) and get plenty of torque and HP with just stock internals. Just make sure you never go in the red and never inject before 4k..

Whens the last time someone seen a Drag, Nascar or Indy race with a car with a Cat and muffler?

Typically CAI and muffler upgrade increases top end HP, but lose on low end TQ.
