I have a 1997 Chevy Lumina that came with stock tires sized at 205 70R 15. I would like to put on two used front tires that are 215 75R 15. I would also like to hear from an expert or someone who has sucessfully done this before. Will these tires work without rubbing against something and blowing out or causing other major problems. (I am aware this may effect my speedometer.)
I have done alot of reading and even gone to this site: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html , but still no answers. :banghead:
Please let me know as soon as possible and thank you very much in advance for any information regarding this question. Don't want to go :screwy:
Thanks,

On the same wheels, your speedometer will be off by about 5½%. The tire will be 1½" larger in diameter than the originals. I have changed to 205-75 on my '96, and have no clearance problems, but the extra half-inch from the 215s might make a difference.

Blue Bowtie,
Thanks for your response and information!! I am still searching to find someone who has changed tires to this size. I would hate to mount and balance these tires only to find that they rub or hit something.
Is there anyone who has changed tires to this size on a Lumina with success?
Thanks,
Oreo1

i have 225/50R16 on my 92 lumina euro, no rubbing of any sort on the sidewalls, so you shouldnt have a problem swapping them out

actually, the mechanics of the older Luminas verses that of the newer ones are basically exactly the same, they are still built on the W platform, therefor the only true difference is the sheet metal. i have worked on many Luminas and Monte Carlos and suspension and engine wise, there isnt much difference
