hi i notice now when idling sometimes runs a little rough but most time runs ok but i notice when i step on gass it sputters like say a rummbling effect, till it gets to a certain rpm or if i floor it then the power there or sometimes even at high speed u feel it sputtering and making transmission cutt in and out a bit jolting

so what can it be? i replaced fuel filter already but still there

so what is that? whats clogging it? or is it a sensor

lol

what would be the tune up for it then

I have the problem sometimes. I usually change the spark plugs and wires. Also wire you under the hood maybe the air filter too. This always helps with me. Thats when I know its time to change the plugs.

Minimum tune-up is plugs, wires, PCV, fuel filter. You'll also need an upper plenum gasket as it needs to be removed to get to the rear bank of plugs.

ah ok ill try that i never replaced the upper plenum gasket as i always put it back down again i have had that thing off so many times

umm ill try that again i have spare wires and stuff, what if it still happens after pcv valve, air filter all the ones u 2 said

also u dont have to remove plenum to remove back plugs cuz if you bend up the tabs u can pull it out

also i dunno if it is the plugs cuz i have those special 4 prong spark plugs the Bosch Platinums in there not suposed to need replacing or what not i dunno
20 bucks for 2 lol

Those plugs are not good plugs, they have given trouble many of times to many vehicles, including the 3.4, such as yours.

oh i thought they good cuz they say the quality is what u pay for

whats wrong with the plugs and what are good ones?

Well I have the 2 prong ones, they are good for horse power but I have to change them every 10 to 15,000 miles. I love them

why do u have to change it so often? and whats special about ur 2 prong ones and my 4s i dunno probably price?

I am not sure why i have the change them but when my car starts to stutter i change them and they are fine. The 2 prongs are alittle bit cheaper.

:grinno: Bosch plugs are not good for an engine that has a waste spark design like ours. Ever notice that the Bosch Platinum center electrode is extremely thin? If you run them in your engine long enough, the center electrode will recede down inside the ceramic insulator. Makes our engines run really crappy.

so is our engine garbage or the spark plug

so what spark plugs u recommend

My personal opinion, stick with the best AC delco plug you can get. I myself am running the AC Delco platinum plugs in all my vehicles. They are designed for your application, so you can't go wrong.

oh ic and what is it about our cars that its not good to get the better plugs
u make it sound like this a shit performance engine lol

That's just it, they aren't better plugs. Our engines are fine. Distributorless ignition systems like ours send a "waste spark" during the exhaust stroke. Instead of the spark going to the center electrode, during the exhaust stroke, the spark comes from the center electrode. Those plugs aren't designed to handle that.

I also had the same fouling problem happen on a Lincoln Town car with the 302. Those plugs are just no good.

If you want to buy some expensive plugs, go with AC Rapidfires - or Nipon Denso irridium plugs - I have Autolite Double platinum in mine right now. But I've been kinda testing different plugs - tried Champion Gold (pretty good - hard to find) - tried Champion Platinum (center electrode is MUCH thicker than Bosch) - Haven't tried Rapidfire's yet, but plenty of Euro drivers swear by them - tried splitfire before - don't waste your money.

Honestly, the hype over platinum is because of its longevity when compared with regular copper resistor plugs. However, platinum does not conduct electricity as well as copper - if you're engine obsessive like me and just can't seem to keep your hands out of your engine, even when things are running well, I'd probably stick with regular copper resistor plugs and just change them every 12,000 mi. Hell I'm usually under the hood tinkering anyway.:evillol:

oh i c i think hehe, so does that mean our engines use a different ignition coil system then normal cars? since you say it comes from the center or what not, so this engine fires different then a regular one

im usually under the hood fixing the damn engine, lol i wish i could feel the engine when it was like in 1991 lol

ill try some other spark plugs but i been seeing some days runs fine and others still puttering so what is wrong with the plugs if it is the plugs they burned out or something
