97 lumina.....service engine soon light?

is this a really big thing to worry about?......a couple months ago i got my tranny rebuilt and another engine put in it.......ran fine since the work and still runs fine....the light just came on today and i dont seem to have any visable problems or leaks?......so is it something really to worry about or what?

could be a loose gas cap ....or... go to autozone or equivalent and get it scanned for the code. Ebay has fairly cheap engine code readers, think I paid around 30 bucks for a basic one.

cool, thanx for the info.....i will check the gas cap tomorrow.....if that doesnt help after work i will swing by autozone and see what they come up with......will keep ya posted
